Free Car Wash Program & COVID-19 Policies
Dear Flagship Express Car Wash Customers, Emerald Wash Club Members, and Area Residents,
The senior management of Price Enterprises, Inc. that operates the Flagship Express Car Wash in Waipio Gentry is very supportive and appreciative of Mayor’s Kirk Caldwell emergency order in response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus requiring all Oahu residents, and visitors to stay home except for essential activities.
We realize many of our Emerald Wash Club Members are Uber, Lyft and other transport and delivery drivers that are crucial during this critical time. Accordingly, we have turned off all membership auto-billing effective April 1, 2020, however your membership remains active so you can wash your vehicle as needed to keep it clean and safe.
Flagship Express Car Wash is also providing Free Car Washes through April 30th for organizations, non-profits, and government agencies involved with the care and transporting of citizens during this crisis, as well as food delivery drivers such as pizza and fast food delivery, and food delivered from restaurants by delivery providers. To obtain the free car wash “coded numbers” please have your business or organization complete the form below. If you are an individual working for one of these organizations please contact your organizations management and have them complete the form below for your whole organization. You can also reach us at email email@example.com or call us at (808) 678-1473.
Essential activities listed in the Mayor’s order include “Gas stations, auto supply, auto repair and related facilities.” These related facilities such as a carwash is included in the North American Industry Classification System (NACIS) Code 8111. On March 19th Homeland Security issued a memorandum identifying “Automotive Repair & Maintenance” as having an essential critical infrastructure workforce.
Early, on March 23th the Southwest Car Wash Association (SCWA) of which Flagship Express Car Wash is a member offered further clarification for municipalities having similar “Shelter in Place” emergency declarations and distributed it to the membership. Following is quote from SCWA:
“Dallas County has issued a “Shelter in Place” order for residents also suggesting “non essential” businesses should close. While Governor Abbott has not issued the same on the state level – we believe other local areas may follow the action of Dallas County.
SCWA believes that many car wash operations can be defined as “ESSENTIAL” business operations and remain operating/open. SCWA believes car washing operations provide a basic and sanitizing service that is essential to health and safety. There is a continuing need for automotive owners to keep their vehicles clean and safe. Uber, Lyft and Taxi drivers have a continuing need to keep their vehicles clean and safe. People transporting the elderly; people assisting as volunteers or paid staff for non-profits offering essential services; people delivering goods and food need to maintain a safe environment.
It is important to note this may not include some non – essential services offered by car wash operations. It is also important to note your business should recognize the protocols of no gathering more than 10 people and social distancing standards. Basic wash and auto maintenance services and any interior and exterior sanitizing sprays and services are valuable to the general public.”
With an abundance of caution and care for our employees and customers, Flagship Express Car Wash will remain open with our normal hours of 7:00 am – 7:00 pm daily. Flagship Express Car Wash is an ultra-modern automated system that never requires the customer to leave the comfort of their vehicle. Our automated point of sale system allows wash club members to enter the car wash without the need to lower a window by the recognition of a Radio Frequency Identifier (RFID) sticker affixed to the inside of windshield. The automatic POS console allows a quick and simple swipe of a credit card. The customer is typically on and off the property in less than 10 minutes, with a clean vehicle. During this period of caution and concern for the COVID-19 virus all vacuum cleaner stations and associated parking stalls have been closed so the vehicle will exit the property immediately after it leaves the car wash tunnel. Distancing of employee workstations is typical and normal in an express car wash. During this period the car wash will typically have 3 or 4 employees on duty.
We will all work together to triumphally win this battle and continue to “live the dream” in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
Mahalo Nui Loa,
Ricky E Price
